Road Controlling Authorities Forum
The focus for the next forum is "Decision making, priority setting and funding of transport programmes".
The keynote speaker will be Murray Sherwin, Chair of the Productivity Commission, who will present on the challenges of lifting local government productivity.
The Productivity Commission is undertaking an inquiry into funding and financing arrangements for authorities. In its draft report they found that Councils need new tools to deal with specific cost pressures. Roading and transport are a major area of local government expenditure; Murray will share with you emerging thoughts on the final recommendations to the Government and what this means for setting priorities and decision making.
