About Judy Kavanagh

Inquiry Director, Productivity Commission

Judy has worked on seven inquiries at the Commission – technological change and the future of work, state sector productivity, new models of tertiary education, using land for housing, regulatory institutions and practices, towards better local regulation, and housing affordability. She has also worked on a joint research project with the Australian Productivity Commission on growing the digital economy in Australia and New Zealand.

Judy has an MA in Economics and has experience in both academia and the public sector. She has had roles in the Ministries of Health and Education and has lectured at Canterbury University and VUW. Her academic research has been in experimental economics and economic psychology. She has a post graduate diploma in health economics.

Judy is wondering how much longer she will have to wait before her bathroom renovation is back on track.
