Pandemic-economics blog

Pandemic-economics blogIdeas and debates supporting the policy response to COVID-19

A blog by us here at the Productivity Commission to generate ideas and promote debate about policy responses to COVID-19.

With the completion of the Commission’s inquiry Technological change and the future of work, the Commission will be undertaking formally commissioned projects for Government on the COVID-19 response. These projects will be announced in due course. The Commission will develop advice in a manner consistent with its statutory independence and, as appropriate, engage expert consultants and researchers, and consult relevant stakeholders.

This blog will contribute to the formally commissioned projects. It will allow the Commission to float ideas and receive quick feedback. On this blogauthors write in an individual capacity and there is no “house view”. Global understanding of COVID-19 and effective policy responses is evolving quickly, so you can expect authors’ views to change over time as they respond to new information.

How you can contribute

Please share our posts and submit comments on this blog. Well expressed and argued comments can and will influence the Commission’s views.

Your comments will not appear at once; a moderator will check them before publication. Please stay on topic and address the issues raised rather than the character and motivations of the people raising them. We’re keen for lively debate, but will decline comments that are off-topic, offensive or insulting.
