Using land for housing

The Using land for housing draft report (PDF) is now available. See below for summary material.

The Government has asked the Productivity Commission to review the local planning and development systems of New Zealand’s fastest-growing urban areas and identify leading practices that are effective in making land and development capacity available to meet housing demand. Comparable overseas systems should also be investigated where they provide valuable lessons for New Zealand.

The Productivity Commission has released its draft findings and recommendations. The final report will be delivered to Government by the end of September 2015.

Submissions on the Draft Report closed on 4 August 2015.
