The annual Gold Awards celebrate inspiring Wellington businesses. The TEAM GOLD award which was sponsored by the Productivity Commission for the first time this year, acknowledges the best wellness and HR practices in places of work for their people.

Prior to presenting the award to Tū Ora, Ganesh talked about the intrinsic link of people and place to productivity, highlighting the importance of place being central for business, community, and productivity.

“Our place here is precious. And then there is people, which is central to the TEAM GOLD award category – the perspective that people are not a cost centre for business, but an investment. Such investment sows the seeds for productivity and prosperity for our businesses, our people, and our place,” added Ganesh.

The TEAM GOLD category spotlights those businesses striving to nurture their people, ensuring their health, safety, and vitality, as well as feeding their creativity, innovation, and ambition.

Tū Ora provides primary health care services across Wellington, Porirua, Wairarapa and Kāpiti. They are the fourth largest Primary Health Care Network in Aotearoa New Zealand with a team of over 250 clinical and non-clinical staff. The award recognised their workplace health and wellness programme empowering staff to prioritise their health and wellbeing, enabling them to better serve and support the community.

An innovative self-management wellness programme using the KYND app (Know Your Numbers Dashboard) consolidates essential health metrics, providing real-time, proactive insights into individual health data. The KYND app initiative has empowered employees to take charge of their health, fostering a culture of health, wellbeing, and engagement.

The event marked the 25th anniversary of the Gold Awards, and Ganesh congratulated the organisers for hosting a golden night celebrating inspiring Wellington businesses.

“The Productivity Commission are happy and indeed excited to be associated with the Gold Awards – recognising collaboration, innovation, and a healthy workplace – businesses that create productive places of work for their people.” said Ganesh.
