About Ron Crawford

Principal Advisor, Productivity Commission

Ron has worked at the Commission since 2013, first as a contractor and later as a Principal Advisor. He has contributed to six inquiries: services sector productivity, social services, urban planning, a low-emissions economy, local government funding and financing, and future of work. Ron previously worked for the former Department of Social Welfare, the Ministry of Education, the Treasury and the then Ministry of Economic Development. He has a PhD in history, but (to avoid over specialisation) also holds qualifications in social policy, economics, Chinese and theology.

When not working, Ron enjoys travel and keeps his hand in improving his Chinese (the first of these currently on hold!).
