New Zealand's future economy and emissions reduction costs will depend on choices made by government, businesses, and society. The Productivity Commission's inquiry is using modelling to explore how different decisions under uncertain future scenarios impact economic activity and emissions. This interim update outlines three potential pathways with varying technology and policy approaches, offering initial assessments under different emissions targets but not yet factoring in full future uncertainties. These results aim to inform the Commission's draft report, with the understanding that both the modelling and results will continue to evolve before the final report.
